Established in 2009 Ace Physio offers a professional foot clinic run by a Registered Chiropodist in downtown Toronto.

What Are Orthotics?

Orthotics are specialized insoles that you wear within your shoes to help return your feet, ankles, knees, and hips to optimal alignment and improved biomechanics.  The increased support helps to cushion and brace the muscles and joints are your feet.

Do I Need Custom Orthotics?

Our Registered Podiatric Chiropodist will perform a detailed assessment and analysis of your feet and lower limb while standing, and also while moving.  The Chiropodist will also examine your feet, other lower limb joints, as well as areas of pain, and wear patterns on the bottom of your feet and shoes.

Orthotics are used to treat or prevent a wide variety of musculoskeletal complaints such as;

  • Plantar fasciitis / heel spurs
  • Flat feet
  • High arches
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Low back pain
  • Ankle sprains
  • Sacroiliac Joint (SIJ) dysfunction
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • Hamstring tendonitis
  • Calf Strains
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome
  • Osteoarthritis in the knees, hips, or low back
  • Femoral acetabular impingment
  • Iliotibial band friction syndrome

What Kind of Shoes Can I  Put My Orthotics In?

Orthotics can be specially designed to fit into any of your shoes, (including running shoes, high heels, flats, dress shoes, golf, or soccer), as well as skates, or even ski boots.

How Are Orthotics Made?

Our Registered Chiropodist used 3d Laser scanning technology that ensures an accurate and comfortable fit, without the use of messy plaster of paris molds, or inaccurate foam molds.  Our Chiropodist assessment lasts approximately 45 minutes, and includes a complete foot and biomechanical analysis, as well as all documentation required to make submission to your extended health company for reimbursement as easy as possible.

How Long Will It Take To Receive My Orthotics?

After your assessment the 3D mold of your foot will be electronically sent to the Orthotic manufacturer who will build your Orthotics and mail them back to Ace Physio Toronto.  The Orthotics will arrive within two weeks, usually faster, where we will ensure a correct fit, and give you education and advice on their proper use.
